Elena Sofía Kastika, 54, known affectionately as Helen, was a hard-working, charming woman, and an active aunt, holding a special place in her heart for her nephews, whom she referred to as Roji, meaning "my soul" or "my life" in Arabic, reflecting her Syrian heritage. Working in a boutique in Flores and having a passion for fashion, Elena was walking by the AMIA on the morning of July 18, 1994, when at 9:53 a.m., a car bomb exploded at the institution's building, contributing to the devastating toll of 85 dead and over 300 wounded.
